The Historic Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, DC was the inspiration for our film, the Love Letters of Ulysses S. Grant. On March 30th, 2015, Patricia came to the Hay-Adams seeking inspiration to put all of her research on Ulysses S. Grant into one project that best expressed it. She thought of creating a documentary film. When Patricia and her son, Theodore, who plays Ulysses S. Grant, began filming in 2016, the staff of the Hay-Adams welcomed them, and did so on many occasions during the production of the film.
When Patricia could not find the right place for the world premiere of the film, the concierge of the hotel helped her find Landmark Theater's E-street cinema!
The morning of the premiere of the film, the Hay-Adams opened their doors to Patricia and the cast one last time so that they could take photographs with a fine view together.
On the day of the premiere, the cast also ventured to the Washington Monument, whose completion was authorized by then president Ulysses S. Grant in 1876.
The love and friendship of the staff of the Hay-Adams encouraged Patricia throughout production. The final dedication in the end credits of the film belongs to them.
